The Child's Primary School, a private kindergarten through eighth grade school, was founded in 1983 based on the principles of value and respect for the individual uniqueness of each child. Located in Clairemont in Northern San Diego, near Tecolote Canyon Natural Park, we serve families throughout Clairemont, Clairemont Mesa East and West, Linda Vista, Bay Oak and surrounding communities. Educational Environment:
The Child's Primary School offers a curriculum that is consistent and cumulative, beginning with the kindergar
ten program and culminating in graduation at the end of grade eight. This success-oriented program is designed to be supportive and challenging, and to focus on teaching the student how to learn. Students feel safe to take risks in an atmosphere that nurtures their self-esteem and teaches responsibility for their own actions.
Inherent in the TCPS program is a celebration of the wonders of life and the excitement of learning. Indepth learning is encouraged, allowing for an exploration of both the abstract (theoretical) and concrete (hands-on) aspects of a subject. In addition to the acquisition of excellent academic skills, TCPS promotes the learning of life skills (such as communication and problem solving) and developing positive interpersonal relationships.
The Child's Primary School believes that a school should have a role in a family's life, not just the student's academic life. Therefore, the student's whole family is welcomed and considered an important addition to the school. Each and every decision - whether it be in regard to curriculum, fundraising, or admission policy - is guided by our basic values and philosophy... the child is primary.
Extended Day Program:
An Extended Day Program is available for parents who are not able to collect their kids before 6pm. After normal school closure at 3.15 children take part in group work, outide activities as well as being able to prepare their homework for the next day.

Kids Into Speaking Spanish (KISS) is a total Spanish immersion program for preschool and kindergarten age children (from 2 to 6 years), with two locations in the East Bay region of San Francisco Bay Area: Walnut Creek (East of Oakland in Contra Costa County) and Montclair, Oakland, CA. The schools are a safe and exciting place for children to grow and learn. Our success over the last seven years is a testament to our innovative program. We provide a wonderful program designed to prepare your child for academic success. About 95% of the activities are conducted in Spanish. The core of our curriculum consists of activities and participation in cultural experiences such as singing, dancing, art projects, cooking, and games - all done entirely in Spanish.
All of the instructors we hire are native speakers because the KISS program emphasizes proper pronunciation and exposure to various aspects of Latin culture. We believe that creating an environment where children have fun, while being exposed to the Spanish language paves the way for greater receptivity to learning the language in a more structured setting later.
