Primary Education Programmes:
The Irish Curriculum and Common Entrance Curriculum:

JUNIOR INFANTS – 2ND FORM
The first four years of Headfort’s program still use many of the methods set forth by Maria Montessori for their unique curriculum. Core subjects including Maths, English and Irish form the backbone of the program, which also incorporates weekly sessions of PE, Ukulele, French and Speech & Drama.

Pupils also can avail of a number of extra-curricular lessons including piano and guitar.

3RD FORM – 6TH FORM
With a principal aim to cultivate a love of learning, from 3rd to 6th Form, a ‘Primary plus’ core academic curriculum is taught by subject specialists who conduct termly reviews with parents.

This includes English, Maths, French or Spanish, History, Geography, Science (in a fully equipped laboratory), Religious Studies, Art & Design, Computing and a choice between Irish and Latin & Classics.

Our school size allows us to support children as they move ahead through the school at their own rate and there is a teacher devoted to one-on-one sessions for pupils who require support.

The school has specialist Art & Design rooms with a traditional studio and a state-of-the-art Computer Design Lab where coding is an integral part of what is now taught.

Children are regularly prepared for entry and scholarships to leading secondary schools in the locality and around Ireland and the UK including, recently, Eureka, St. Patrick’s Classical School, Alexandra College, Clongowes Wood College, St. Columba’s College, Cheltenham Ladies’s College, Eton College, Marlborough College and The King’s Hospital.

Courses / Programs
Founded in 1843, St Columba's College is a co-educational boarding school of 300 pupils, aged 11 to 18, in a beautiful setting at the foothills of the mountains overlooking Dublin Bay. We are seven miles south of Dublin city centre. We do have local day pupils, but about 80% of pupils are seven-day boarders. The pursuit of academic excellence is the everyday priority of our highly qualified professional staff. There are 38 full-time members of the teaching staff for the 300 pupils, and the resulting overall pupil-to-staff ratio of under 10-to-1 means small classes and close individual attention. In regular formal staff meetings, individuals' academic problems are discussed. The academic progress of each pupil is at all times closely monitored.
Irish Junior Certificate, Irish Leaving Certificate, Transition Year Programme. At the end of each term, all pupils in all subjects sit full-scale formal internal examinations. (The Leaving and Junior Certificate examinations replace these for Forms VI and III in June). Following these, detailed results and reports are sent to parents.

Rochester Independent College
Courses / Programs
Located in the County of Kent, just east of London, Rochester Independent College (RIC) is a progressive alternative to conventional secondary education with a happily distinctive ethos.

Accepting day students from the age of 11 and boarders from 16, the focus is on exam success in a lively, supportive and informal atmosphere. Students are encouraged to be themselves and achieve exam results that often exceed their expectations.

The College has an atmosphere closer to university than school. About 65 of the College's 280 students are boarders. Our Halls combine the informality of a university residence with the supervision and pastoral support appropriate for young adults.

The College offers students the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of managed independence, and acts as a stepping stone between school and university.

Students who are 15 are considered if their 16th birthday falls within the first half term of the academic year. College accommodation is in either single or double rooms. All rooms have a direct telephone and internet connection.

RIC is accredited by the ISC (Independent Schools Council) and a member of the Independent Schools Association.
