Teen Challenge Columbus Girls Academy:
Teen Challenge Columbus Girls Academy is a Christian therapeutic boarding school for teen girls ages 12-17 years. Our academy is located in Seale in Russell County, Alabama, approximately 10 miles south-west of Phenix City, AL, 15 miles south-west of Columbus, Georgia and 118 miles south-west of Atlanta, GA.

Therapeutic Boarding School Program for Teen Girls ages 12-17 years:
Our therapy involves an interpretation or identification of why the inappropriate behaviors are occurring, and then a contextualization of these reasons as a function of what erroneous assumptions are in place regarding meeting basic needs.

Through discipleship, our curriculum and ongoing pastoral counseling relative to the curriculum content, the students are able to discover their incorrect assumptions for meaningfulness, and replace them with content from the God relationship.

Academics:
In the classroom, we utilize the award winning Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) Christian education curriculum on individual computers for each student offered by Alpha Omega Publications.

SOS is a comprehensive, Bible-based curriculum that offers computer-based learning for grades K-12. This computer-based learning system is also supported and tutored in our classroom by our own certified teachers.

SOS offers five core subjects and a variety of electives that complement learning tools such as 3-D animation, video clips, and other exciting multimedia which enhances the teacher’s ability to customize lessons to meet each student’s individual learning needs.

Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) offers a vibrant mix of entertaining lessons, assignments quizzes, and fun-filled lessons designed to captivate the student’s attention and engage them in learning. With features that enhance content and functionality, this award-winning curriculum offers ease, accuracy, and quality academics.

We emphasize individual learning, and once a student has individually mastered one concept she may move ahead to the next concept without having to wait on a classroom of students, so many students are able to either catch up or get far ahead in their studies.  Professional transcripts and progress reports are maintained by school officials for record keeping.  Teachers at CGA are accessible to parents on family weekends as well as by phone or email for updates on their daughter’s academic progress.

For residents who graduate, our graduation ceremonies are a beautiful celebration of the transformation that has taken place in their life.  

Activities:
Participation in all activities is required and completed as a group, supervised by staff members. Students are challenged daily in relationships as they interact with staff and their peers. Our environment is one that balances discipline with personal responsibility to create a positive peer culture.

Typical Activities:  
Physical Education, Stewardship in Student Life, The Arts (Choir & Drama), Weekly Church Services, Weekly Chapel Services, Special Outings, Recreation & Personal Devotion.

Therapeutic Activities:  
Individual Pastoral Counseling, Group Counseling, Therapeutic Bible-Based Curriculum & Evening Group Time

Aftercare Program:  
Columbus Girls Academy will work with the student and family to set up a support system at home before the student graduated the program. Upon graduation, we will periodically contact the graduate and welcome the graduate and family to contact their counselor for further help or guidance following the closure of the program.
