Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan:
Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan offers 2 and 3-week summer programs in Fashion Styling, Fashion Marketing, and Interior Design at introductory and advanced levels. Our summer programs take place in July.

Summer Fashion & Design Programs: 

Fashion Stylist Summer Program:
- Duration: 3 weeks;  Level: Introductory;  Language: English.


Syllabus: History of Fashion, Trends and Milan Ground Research, Styling Techniques, History of Fashion Photography, Shooting Techniques.

Course Objective: The course provides the tools and guidelines related to the profession of fashion styling and an introductory investigation of the fashion scene and the most influential designers, styles, emerging personalities, fashion weeks, current events, and future trends. The course will introduce styling and its aspects and requirements, with particular emphasis on visual culture and key elements of the fashion world’s signs and images.

Admission Requirements: This is an introductory course, no previous studies within the field are required. Skills such as basic visual communication and basic photography can be  however useful.


Fashion Marketing Summer Program:
- Duration: 3 weeks;  Level: Introductory;  Language: English.

Syllabus: Fashion System, Fashion Marketing and Marketing Intelligence, Fashion Brand Management, Trends and Sociology, Communication and Advertising, Digital Media Marketing, Distribution Channels, Visual Merchandising, Sales Techniques.

Course Objective: The course is an overview of marketing, management and merchandising for the retail fashion industry with an emphasis on the Italian experience. The preliminary part is an introduction to the Italian fashion industry.

This is followed by the analysis of marketing, brand management (target, positioning and brand values, definition), trends and lifestyles research, distribution channels, communication and advertising strategies, visual merchandising, and sales techniques. Site visits to relevant showrooms or retail spaces will complement the lecture portion of the course.

Admission Requirements: This is an introductory course, no previous studies within the field are required.


Interior & Showroom Design Summer Program:

- Duration: 3 weeks;  Level: Advanced;  Language: English.

Syllabus:Visual merchandising, History and evolution of commercial spaces, Italian design: contemporary trends, Interior and shop design workshops, Guided visits and designer lectures.

Course Objective:
The course aims to introduce its participants to the Italian design system and current trends in interior design to develop high-level showrooms and shops with a substantial expressive value.

During the  course participants will  study in-depth Italian interiors and commercial space design, in which “interior” is intended as space important for improving everyday living: places for eating, shopping, reading and other public spaces for selling and buying. 

A 360° vision of Italian—in particular, Milanese—reality and design methodology, is made possible by the synergy between theoretical and practical lessons, supported by conferences and visits to famous showrooms, shops, and exhibitions.

Admission Requirements: Students who have completed at least two years of college, and professionals interested in enriching their knowledge. Applicants need to have representation techniques skills; visual communication skills as well as model making and verbal communication skills.


Letterpress Printing & Calligraphy:
- Duration: 2 weeks;  Level: Introductory;  Language: English.

Syllabus: History Of Calligraphy, Workshop Of Calligraphy With Luca Barcellona, In-depth Analysis Of The Letterpress Printing And Visit To Officina Tipografica 9 Punti, Workshop On Printing Press Hold By Officina Tipografica 9 Punti.

Course Objective: Before desktop publishing, and more in general the diffusion of electronic instruments, production and duplication of written texts was strictly connected to calligraphic practice and movable types.

Koiné - Italian Language Summer Courses in Rome
Courses / Programs
Koiné - Italian Language Centre in Rome provides an Italian language summer school on the beach in Rossano, a beautiful town of Calabria, a region in Southern Italy, south of Naples. We provide transfer from Lamezia Terme Airport (also in the Calabria region) to Rossano.

The summer / vacation program includes 2-weeks of intensive Italian classes and visits around the historical centre of the Bizantine Rossano, the Corigliano’s castle and the Sibari’s escavation. The School for Curatorial Studies is an ambitious and challenging project promoted since 2004 and conceived as a school committed to experimentation and interdisciplinary thinking. The main goals are to spread the knowledge in the field of visual arts and to introduce the students to the professions related to the art world, focusing on contemporary curatorial theory and practice and contemporary museology. The School’s activities are meant for all those interested and passionate in art, graduated students or professionals who want to deepen their knowledge and improve their practical skills.

The School’s teaching staff is formed by Italian and international professionals, scholars, historians and art critics of recognized experience. Among them: Matt Williams (curator), Filippo Lotti (Sotheby’s), Chiara Barbieri (Peggy Guggenheim Collection), Francesca Colasante (Pinault Collection), Andrea Goffo (Found. Prada), Nicola Lees (Serpentine London).
The program:
The Summer School in Curatorial Practice will take place during the International Biennale Venice. With an interdisciplinary approach, the course provides practical training and experience within museums and exhibition settings. Its international faculty includes curators and museum professionals, artists and critics.
