STEAM Training Programs for Educators

STEAM Education:
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is a framework for teaching FUNctional Literacy that is based on natural ways of learning and is customizable for all types of educators & students. We provide on-site and online professional development for individuals and educational programs to assist and support the transition to a STEAM platform. Our STEAM Training Camps are offered throughout the year in a range of larger cities in different regions of the continental U.S.

Georgette Yakman is the founding researcher and creator of STEAM education. In 2006, she developed the framework and began implementation in 2007 as a middle and high school Engineering & Technology teacher.

Her framework includes a way for all the subjects to relate to each other and to a rapidly changing world for developing reality-based life-long learning skills.

This means learning and using the idea that “Science and Technology are interpreted through Engineering and the (social, language, physical, musical and fine) Arts, all based in elements of Mathematics.”

Georgette Yakman is available for consulting, professional development programs and speaking engagements.

We offer three types of training packages- one for individual Educators, one for Staff, and one for whole Programs.

The focus of these professional development sessions is to learn about Integrated Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts & Math Education: why it’s being done, how it works, how it affects you, your school and your community.

These sessions are geared for school administrators and educators, and are also appropriate for museum affiliates and out-of-school program facilitators.

We also offer membership levels with access to STEAM approved lesson plans, discussion forums, program documents, online video training and much more.

Our training has been held in New York, California, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Virginia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Washington, Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Colorado, Alabama, and Illinois, among other locations.

- 2-day Staff Certification trainings, which offer a full teaching staff an intense introduction to STEAM and allows them to take it in their own direction.

- Program Certification, where the staff attends the 2-day training and then gets on-site and virtual support for the first year as they transition to be a STEAM school.

- STEAM Certification Educator Camps for individuals where an administrator, curriculum coordinator or teacher can come to be STEAM trained.

- Online video training with the option of STEAM certification.
