Professional Career Institute, Richmond Campus:
Conveniently situated in Richmond VA, Professional Career Institute (PCI) provides allied health care certificate courses, including Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Personal Care Aide, Pharmacy Technician, and Medication Aide Technician. We also offer a C.N.A. Refresher course. We assist students in excelling in their studies, as well as offering job placement assistance after graduation.

A Certified Nurse Aide course prepares students for the responsibilities of assisting and caring for the daily needs of patients in a variety of healthcare settings; courses include supervised clinical experience. This course introduces students to the healthcare delivery system and covers basic nursing skills, including infection control, vital sign measuring, patient safety, emergency care, patient positioning and record keeping.

Personal care and restorative services are also covered in CNA courses; students practice helping bathe, groom, dress, eat and use assistive devices. In addition to learning basic medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, students in CNA programs learn techniques for responding to patient and family member concerns as well as how to manage patients with mental health or cognitive impairments.

Certification requirements vary by state, but potential Certified Nurse Aides are generally required to complete a minimum number of training and clinical hours in addition to passing a state certified nursing assistant exam.

Personal Care Aide Training Program
The Personal Care Aide (PCA) assists patients with many tasks that they cannot do for themselves while they are hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, their personal homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities. PCA's may assist patients with tasks such as eating, getting out of bed, taking a bath, and brushing their teeth and hair. The Patient Care Aide can also be called hospital attendants, nurses' assistants, CNA clinical support associate, healthcare assistant, and nurse's aides among others depending on the nature of the facility.

2-week course - $450
Day Hours: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Evening Hours: 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm


Medication Aide Training Program
Medication Aide Training Course is designed to train nursing assistants (CNA's) and residential attendants (PCA's or CNA's) to safely administer non-parenteral medications in long-term care facilities, assisted living, group homes and other related areas.

68 Hour - 2 week course - $650
Day Hours: 9:00 a.m - 4:00 pm
Evening Hours: 4:00 pm -10:00 pm


Pharmacy Technician Training Program
The pharmacy technician program is designed to prepare students to enter the pharmacy field at a minimum entry level in hospitals, community (retail) pharmacies, or clinics, as well as non-traditional settings. Pharmacy Technician students will be licensed by the State of Virginia and upon completion of this course, be eligible to sit for the certification exam as a Nationally Certified Professional Career Institute now enrolling for Pharmacy Technician classes. Pharmacy Technician in the State of Virginia.

Trained pharmacy technicians are extremely valuable in healthcare environments. The pharmacy technician may act as an intermediary between the physician and pharmacist, and as an advocate for patients. Pharmacy technicians must be extremely responsible, accurate and efficient professional at all times.

Conveniently situated in Richmond VA, Virginia School for Nurse Aides (VSNA) provides quality health care programs, including Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), Medication Aide, and CPR training. Day and night classes are available for your convenience.

Accredited by the Virginia Board of Nursing, NACES, and the American Red Cross, we specialize in CNA training. On successful completion of the CNA program, our graduates can take their State Board exams at our school. We have a high pass rate on state boards.

At VSNA, we offer a hands-on approach to clinical training, which includes an internship at an assisted living facility. Here you can use the skills and knowledge you have learned to provide medication administration and direct patient care to residents.

Situated less than ten miles east of Richmond in ​Henrico VA, Dominion Health Education Center provides a range of allied health training programs.
