Bay Ridge Prep is a private K-12, non-sectarian school in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NYC, offering lower, middle and high school programs. The school started in 1998 with 35 students and currently has over 250 students, spread out over two facilities. The instant and continued success of the school has been based on an outstanding professional team with a flexible approach to education. Our faculty consists of a unique blend of teachers, educational and school psychologists, and professionals in their respective fields, coming together to create an environment that promotes both academic achievement and social maturity and growth.
- Lower School program (Kindergarten-Grade 5)
- Middle School program (Grades 6-8)
- High School program (Upper School: Grades 9-12).
* We also have several programs to accommodate children with different learning styles.
* For children with specific learning disabilities, we have the Bridge Program.
Our teaching strategies are based on the most recent advances in educational research, with a focus on teaching to the multiple intelligences. The educational sessions are rich with instruction, dialogue, group work, projects, and feedback.
Because many students may be weak in one area and advanced in others, we have a mainstreaming component that allows students to excel in areas in which they are strong and receive help in areas that require support. For children who just need extra support, we have a Support Services program that assists students with the daily course work or focuses on specific skill deficits.
One characteristic that parents find unique about Bay Ridge Prep is our willingness to look at each child as an individual. This child-centered approach helps to bring out a child's strengths, develop their weaknesses, and help the child develop a better understanding of themselves. This requires knowledge of child development, flexibility, and hard work on the part of the teachers and administration. It requires a more in-depth level of understanding of each child, and a willingness to meet each child's needs.
The result of such an approach, however, is a more motivated student who becomes interested in learning, and excited about coming to school.
