Totnes School of English:
We are situated in the historic Gate House building in Totnes, a lively market town set in beautiful countryside in the south-west of England, near Dartmoor and the coast. Course fees include a full social programme including regular Saturday trips to Dartmoor or the South Devon coast. Homestay accommodation available.

General & Intensive English for adults (17+) all year round, Cambridge Exam, summer courses for teenagers (12-16 years)
10% discount on tuition fees if you enrol for a General English course in Feb, March, Nov or Dec.

Standard English
20 lessons per week in a group (maximum size 12, minimum age 17) at your level in the mornings, Monday to Friday. Available all year for levels Elementary to Advanced.

Intensive English
30 lessons per week – Standard English in the morning (see above) plus small group tuition (maximum 8) in the afternoons. For people who want to make the best use of their time in England.

Business English Mini Group
27 lessons per week in a small group (maximum 4, minimum age 25). This course is suitable for mature professional and business people who need English in their work.

Business English Intensive Mini Group
As the Business English Mini Group above but with an additional three hours of One:One lessons for personal tuition

General English Mini Group
27 lessons per week in a group (maximum 4 students. Pre-Intermediate level and above).

English Plus
TSE offer this exciting range of interesting afternoon courses to add to a Standard, Intensive or Mini Group. Maximum size 4, all courses are teacher led. Topics covered include: Work Experience, English in Action, Natural Health,Creative Art, Castles and Gardens of Devon and Agatha Christie.

40+ Courses
For people 40 years and above with 20 lessons Standard English plus a full programme of workshops, visits and language input. Choose from Creative Art, Natural Health, Castles and Gardens or Agatha Christie. Selected dates only.

Foreign Teachers of English
30 lessons Standard English per week to improve foreign teacher’s own level of English plus a variety of sessions on methods and strategies for teaching English to foreign students. Selected dates only.

Teen Courses (Easter and Summer)
20 lessons Standard English per week plus a full programme of activities including one half day and one full day excursion. An additional intensive grammar option is available in small groups (max. 8 students).

Examination Courses
20 lessons Standard English per week plus 8 lessons intensive FCE, CAE or CPE exam preparation in small groups. Exams arranged locally. Selected dates only.

Totnes is a small town and most of our families live within walking distance of the school so you don't have to take a bus or a train to go to and from school or to attend our busy social programme.

When you arrive in Totnes, your host family will collect you from the coach or train station if possible and show you where to go to school in the morning, so you can relax in our lovely town, right from the beginning of your stay. Please remember to tell us when and how you are arriving!
