The Isca School Of English:
The Isca School of English is based in Exeter in Devon. It is the regional capital and cultural centre of South West England. Isca is the longest running language school in Exeter. It is well known for its very friendly atmosphere, excellent teaching and the personal attention given to all students.

Isca is open throughout the year with classes at all levels from elementary to advanced. There is an average of 8 students in each class group and sometimes fewer than this. The maximum class size is 12.
Intensive Genaral English; Cambridge Suite exam preparation classes (for IELTS, PET, FCE and CAE); Summer General English with Business English; Easter and summer courses for juniors; 50+ courses for mature students.

Isca has warm, well equipped classrooms, student recreation rooms with coffee bar (just the place to meet and make friends), video rooms, table tennis tables in our large, beautiful gardens and guitars and pianos too. Our Study Centre has: a Language Laboratory, where you can practise Listening Comprehension, Pronunciation and Intonation, Grammar and StructuresMulti-Media Computer Room with programmes to practise Grammar, Vocabulary, Business Writing and Examinationsa Reading, Writing, and Speaking Skills Development Section with a wide range of self-access study materials focussing on your individual needsfree E-Mail and Free Broadband Internet Access - to surf the web and contact your friends and family You will work under the supervision of your teacher in the Study Centre, which is also open after school for private study. Our Video Room has a range of classic English Language films for you to watch with your friends in your leisure time.

Living in an English home gives you the opportunity of meeting and talking with local people, an important way of getting to know the British way of life and to learn English. We think it is very important for you to live with friendly people who will look after you and welcome you into their home, and that this is one of the most important elements of your stay here at Isca. The Principal's wife, Jo Tomlinson, visits all of the homes personally and organises your accommodation. She is also in charge of our welfare arrangements and is available every day at school to help and advise you during your stay. In your homestay, you will have a single room, unless you wish to share with a friend. Most homes take only one student, but if there is another student staying there, we will not place you with someone with the same mother tongue as yourself. Light laundry is included. Your hosts will provide breakfast and an evening meal from Monday to Friday, and full-board (all meals) at the weekend. They will give you a packed lunch on Saturdays if you come on an excursion. Junior students, coming to learn English on our summer courses, have full-board accommodation with a packed lunch or barbecue at school from Monday to Friday.

The Isca School of English is accredited by the British Council, who carry out regular inspections of the school. This accreditation is your guarantee of the high standard of our school.
