Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School:
Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School located in the heart of Bangkok, southern Thailand has managed to maintain its policy of being a mid-sized international school within a green and natural environment in the heart of Bangkok, offering high quality international education based on the English National Curriculum for its students.
Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School's mission is to create a learning environment that enables students to realize their full potential through the application of the school's philosophy. Consequently, it is committed to offering a stimulating and challenging education which promotes a love of learning as well as spiritual and moral development. Implicit in this is the encouragement of personal responsibility for one's learning. Maintenance of this learning environment requires high standards of behaviour, courtesy, tolerance and respect and an awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity. It is also rooted in the concept of the school as a community, actively involving parents and other community partners in school life.
Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School´s philosophy is based on a simple conviction. It is that true education nurtures a life-long love of learning, a striving for the highest standards, not only in academic work, but also socially and spiritually. This empowers individuals to take their place as productive members of society at work, and in peace and harmony with themselves, the community and the environment in which they live.
Pre-Prep Program (Early Years Foundation Stage); Primary School Program; Secondary School Program. Children of 3 to 4 years enter our Pre-Prep classes and at 4 and 5 years attend Reception. At six, they go into Year 1 of regular programme. We follow the British Curriculum. Classes are taught in English.
We are a member of the Council of International schools and recognized by the University of Cambridge as a center for international examinations.
Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School is very proud of its international outlook to education. 29 nationalities are represented in our school and we like to celebrate our cultural diversity. Students will develop their own sense of identity whilst recognising and empathising with other cultures, traditions and beliefs. Our aim is to educate our students so that they will be able to take their place as participating adults in which ever cultural society they may find themselves in the future.
Education is seen in its widest context and we believe that it is important to develop children intellectually, socially, physically, creatively and morally. We have a strong after-school programme where a large range of activities are offered. There are plenty of internal school sporting events but there are also teams which compete in the TISAC tournaments for basketball, football, athletics, badminton and swimming. Each year group will go on educational trips to help reinforce specific aspects of the curriculum that are learning about. Residential trips are very popular and are organised for student from Year 4 to Year 6, these trips give the students the opportunity to apply and further their knowledge and understanding in a completely different setting and helps them to forge social relationships with both friends and teachers.
Sport plays a major role in pupils´ personal and social development at Bangkok Prep. The sporting curriculum provides the pupils with numerous opportunities to broaden their network of skills and to learn how to become an effective member of a team. In the primary school, students receive a 45 minute PE lesson and a 45 minute swimming lesson per week. In the secondary school, a 2 hour PE slot is allocated to each year group. These lessons are taken by specialist teachers using the British National Curriculum as a framework for their teaching.
In addition to the work that is covered in PE and swimming classes, a variety of after school clubs provide pupils with further sporting opportunities. Training clubs are held on various days of the week to prepare school teams for their involvement in the TISAC sporting programme. On top of these training clubs, other activities are organised within the after school curriculum to boost pupils´ participation and enthusiasm in sport.
