Metalwerx School:
Established in 1998, Metalwerx offers professional weekly jewelry classes and short intensive workshops with a personable feel. Metalwerx is a non-profit school and community studio for jewelry making and metal arts located in Waltham, Massachusetts. We offer instruction on a wide range of topics for all jewelers and metalsmiths, from the novice to the professional, in our fully equipped studio. We offer small, personalized classes in a supportive, enthusiastic, community environment.

Programs include:
Jewelry I
In this class you will learn the basics of jewelry making. Techniques include: sawing, filing, soldering, texturing and more.
Jewelry II
In this class we will expand and fine tune the skills learned in Jewelry I, and explore a wider range of processes, time-saving tools and resources.

This is an opportunity for students to work on independent projects with questions answered by professional jeweler, Leslie Hartwell.

Casting and Wax Working Techniques
Casting and wax working techniques can save you time and add new dimension to your creations. Making wax models allows you create complex curves, surfaces, and textures that would be difficult and time consuming to execute in sheet metal.
Bowls, Bowls, Bowls
Make a bowl while learning how to sink, angle raise, crimp raise, and planish. Students can also explore options for rims, foots, and finishes.
So Much Soldering
Need to build you soldering skills? This class will help you gain confidence and skill in planning and executing perfectly soldered joints that require little cleanup, no stress, and no apologies!
An Introduction to Florentine Engraving
Florentine engraving serves as the basis for the extravagance in most goldsmith work from the Renaissance to the present day. Students will work to gain essential, basic engraving skills to create pieces with endless possibilities in richness and depth.
Wire Weaving Techniques
Wire is such a wonderful and flexible material which begs to be worked with beyond the usual twisting or wrapping. This class will cover all textile and basket weaving techniques from the simple tabby weave to twining, triple weave, soumak, and coiling
