DLTC English & Foreign Language School:
The DLTC is an English & foreign language school based in the beautiful seaside town of Dun Laoghaire, just 20 minutes from Dublin, the capital of Ireland. DLTC offers a wide range of full and part time English language courses to foreign students of various levels, needs and ages. All our English classes focus on communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) as well as English grammar, but a special emphasis is placed on language production - you won't learn a language if you don't use it!

English Language Courses:

General English (full-time):

Our General English language course is a full-time course and takes place all year round here at our school in Dublin, Ireland - so you can begin anytime! The course comprises 20 classes per week from Monday to Friday from 9.20am-1.00pm with a short break for tea/coffee/soft drinks at 11am. The course caters for students with elementary - advanced levels of English and students are given a level test to ensure they are in the right class for their level. While the classes cover general English grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, the special focus of all our courses is to get studenPhoto of English Courses in Dublin, Irelandts speaking English successfully. Up to 50% of the class is devoted to getting students to speak and to practise what they are learning. Often, teachers are happy to discuss with students about aspects of Irish culture and things to do or see in Dublin and Ireland.

Evening English (part-time):
These courses take place all year round and are part-time. You can begin anytime and continue for as long as you want. The courses comprise either: 4 hours per week on either Monday & Wednesday 7.15-9.15pm or Tuesday & Thursday 7.15-9.15pm; or one night per week (Monday, Wednesday or Thursday) from 6.45-9.45pm - depending on level. The Monday & Wednesday night courses offer Elementary/Pre-Intermediate levels and Tuesday & Thursday night courses cater for Intermediate/First Certificate/Advanced levels. The main focus of the courses is to improve speaking and listening skills although general grammar is also covered aswell as some reading and writing.

Cambridge Exam Classes:
The DLTC offers part-time English language courses in the evenings which are aimed at those studying for the Cambridge English exams: First Certificate - FCE, Advanced - CAE, etc). Students can begin these courses at any time during the year and can continue with the course as long as they want or need (the shortest period is for 4 weeks). Students only have to pay for 4 weeks at any time and there is no registration fee - if you want to continue at the end of 4 weeks, you just pay for the next 4 weeks. Students can study for the exams at the DLTC and then apply to sit the exam at University College Dublin which administers the Cambridge exams in Dublin. The classes cover the five main parts of the Cambridge exams: Use of English (Grammar), Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Extra emphasis is given to Speaking practice as most students can generally study Grammar on their own but need to practice their speaking.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Exam Classes:
The DLTC offers part-time English language courses in the evenings to prepare students for the IELTS exam. The courses are 2 nights per week for 9 weeks (Tuesday and Thursday 19:15-21:45). Students can study for the exams at the DLTC and then apply to sit the exam at University College Dublin which administers IELTS exams in Dublin. The DLTC is happy to apply to UCD on your behalf. Classes cover the four IELTS skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. While there is no specific grammar component to an IELTS exam, students are expected to use the grammar properly in context so some English grammar is also covered in these classes. The courses prepare for the Academic IELTS exam format. A good level of English is required to prepare for the IELTS so students you will have to successfully complete a level test to attend these courses. The level required to attend is a good Upper-Intermediate to Advanced level.

Private English:
If you want to improve your general English or wish to study for a particular exam such as Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL, but need some extra help, then we can arrange private classes for you. Class times are flexible and can be arranged for a time that suits both you and teacher. Course topics are flexible. Before you begin, we ask you to complete a pre-course questionnaire so that we can find out exactly what help you require. Teachers will then use this questionnaire to provide you with material for your lessons. Course locations are flexible. You can come to us or we can travel to you (depending on location, travel costs may be extra). We can also provide private English classes for small groups. So if you'd like to come with some friends or colleagues just contact us about this possibility. End-of-course certificates are awarded to private students. Coffee, tea and soft-drinks are available during classes.

Business English:
If you require English for your job, then we can provide private classes to suit your needs. Private business classes may be booked for anything between 2 and 40 classes per week. Before you start your course, we ask you to answer some questions about your needs and based on this we can develop a course just for you. The Needs Analysis Questionnaire is designed to help our teachers identify your exact requirements in terms of the English language and your business usage: e.g. Do you send emails, write letters, send faxes etc? Do you give presentations? Do you attend international meetings? Do you take minutes? Do you write reports? We also ask you to complete a pre-course level test so that your teacher will know your technical level in advance of your arrival. The emphasis in these classes is on practical use of business English. So teachers may ask you to prepare presentations, write letters / emails, make phone calls, listen to and summarise news programmes on the internet. Your voice may be recorded on cassette so that teachers can help you identify your strengths and weakness and offer alternative ways of using your English. A post-course support service is also available.

Junior Summer English:
The DLTC runs English language & activity courses during the summer for groups of juniors aged between 12-17 years. The courses are held at a local secondary school in the beautiful, upmarket and safe environment of Dun Laoghaire. Classes take place during weekday mornings between 9.15 and 12.30am. Afternoon activities include sports and half-day excursions to places of interest and entertainment. One full-day excursion takes place each Saturday and two evening activities are provided each week. Students stay in carefully selected full-board 'homestay' accommodation with local host families.

English Language Camp Ireland
Courses / Programs
• English Language immersion course for students aged 12 to 17 in County Sligo in the beautiful West of Ireland!

• The programme consists of 3 hours of English tuition each morning. Afternoons are filled with a choice of fun activities including Kayaking, Horse-Riding, Cookery Lessons, Irish Dancing and Zip-Lines in the local forest park!

• Our course is also attended by Irish teenagers who act as Student Guides for our international students. The Irish teenagers attend activities and live with the students in our lakeside accommodation to ensure they have an enjoyable language learning holiday.

• Evenings are spent relaxing and include English movie nights, Quizzes, Board games, table tennis competitions etc.

• English Language Camp Ireland takes place on Lough Arrow in the west of Ireland. The residential accommodation is located on the shores of one of Ireland's most beautiful lakes.

• Our unique weekend excursion takes students to a remote island on the lake where our students along with Irish teenagers, teachers and activity leaders camp overnight.
