Upon completion of this programme, students will possess the skills that apply to numerous branches of audio production as Audio Engineers. With these skills students will be qualified to fill a variety of positions in Live Sound Reinforcement, Music Production, Radio Production, and Sound for Television, Film, Gaming, and Theatre. Students gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to the industry through various recording sessions and mentorships with industry professionals.
Term One: Audio Production Concepts & Technology
Preparing students with Audio Production Concepts & Technology is fundamental in all areas of audio production. Students will be presented with theory through lectures, and gain valuable experience through practical projects, workshops, and labs. This term equips students with a solid understanding of utilizing the tools necessary to capture quality sound moving forward to Term Two for advanced training in each branch of audio production.
Term Two: Audio Production Branches
Students will move into Audio Production Branches gaining advanced training and valuable insight from professionals in the industry through mentorship. Students will take their general knowledge of concepts & technology previously learned and apply them to more specialized areas of audio production. Mentors will guide students through their area of expertise practicing current techniques and critique of projects.
Term Three: Final Practicum
Students will focus their final practicum in 2 fields of audio production in which they will conduct more demanding projects, and work practicum with MOSMA's industry partners in each field. In the final week of the programme, industry lecturers will guide students in portfolio development and career planning.
Located in the vibrant community of Dawson City in the Yukon Territory in Northern Canada, Yukon School of Visual Arts (SOVA) is an accredited post-secondary institution. We offer a Foundation Year program that specializes in the instruction, promotion and advancement of contemporary visual arts practices from a multiplicity of cultural perspectives. This is the first year of study in a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Bachelor of Design degrees (BDes).
