Online Educational Technology Program at the University of Texas at Brownsville:
The Online Educational Technology Program at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College offers online undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level programs, certifications, and specializations in Educational Technology. Educational technology is the field of education which covers all components of informational technology used in the delivery of educational materials.
Online Master of Education in Educational Technology Degree Program:The Online M. Ed. in Educational Technology is a 36-hour program designed to prepare persons in K-12, higher education, corporate, and military settings to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for the classrooms of tomorrow.
Graduates of this program will have a much better understanding of the uses of technology and how they can be applied in instructional/training settings.
Online E-Learning Certificate:
The E-Learning Certificate is a fully Web-based, 12-hour, graduate-level, certificate program that targets individuals with an interest in teaching/learning online initiatives in higher education or at e-learning industries.
This program prepares student candidates to design, develop, implement, and evaluate instruction for e-learning environments and serve as effective online educators by advancing knowledge and skills in electronic learning, both conceptual and practical.
With the advanced studies, student candidates will be prepared to work as instructional designers/developers in higher education, or industries with an e-learning workforce.
Online Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certificate:
The Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certificate is a State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) approved certificate. This certification program is designed to offer candidates an opportunity to further their studies while becoming technology mentors at the campus and district level.
MTT certification will prepare candidates to:
- Provide instructional leadership in technology;
- Mentor colleagues as they implement technology-based instruction;
- Provide professional development at their district/campus; and,
- Assist the district’s special education department with the implementation of computer-related “Assistive Technology.”
Ed.D. Specialization in Educational Technology:
The Doctoral Program (Ed. D. Degree) in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to prepare individuals with expertise to formulate and lead educational programs and organizations in higher education. In addition, the program will enable candidates to teach in colleges and universities, many of which are faced with a shortage of highly qualified faculty.
The Specialization in Educational Technology with a focus on E-Learning will further enhance candidates' career opportunities in the PK-16 arena by enabling them to design, develop, and teach courses through Web-based instruction (e-learning).
