ICARUS Wings at Groundschool London:
Situated in a modern facility in Putney, in south-west London in the Borough of Wandsworth, ICARUS Wings at Groundschool London provides an innovative set of advanced language proficiency courses for all flight crew. The three courses were put together by an experienced Flight Crew Licensing Instructor with several years of experience in the field of Aviation English training with major airlines in Europe.
FCL Failed Exam Recuperation (Language Proficiency)
Duration: 1 week
The ICARUS Wings FCL Failed Exam Recuperation (Language Proficiency) course is specifically designed for pilots who have failed their ICAO Language Proficiency Exam and have obtained a non-operational level (ICAO Level 3 or below).
This is a one week course divided into 8 modules and 6 hours of practical application sessions conducted in a state of the art FTD flight simulator – Boeing 737-800 or Airbus A320. At the end of the week the pilot will be ready to re-sit the exam and should be able to obtain a minimum operational pass level (ICAO Level 4).
Each pilot will have an individual assessment during the course focusing on strengths and weaknesses to better prepare the student to pass the exam.
Course Content:
- Module 1 – Introduction to Air Communication
- Module 2 – Pre-flight
- Module 3 – Ground Movements
- Module 4 – Departure, Climbing and Cruising
- Module 5 – En Route Events
- Module 6 – Contact and Approach
- Module 7 – Landing
- Module 8 – On the Ground

FCL Exam Preparation (Language Proficiency)
Duration: 2 weeks
The ICARUS Wings FCL Exam Preparation (Language Proficiency) course is specifically designed for pilots who need to prepare in advance for their ICAO Language Proficiency Exam.
This is a two week course divided into 10 modules and 10.5 hours of practical application sessions conducted in a state of the art FTD flight simulator – Boeing 737-800 or Airbus A320.
The course includes individual assessment of strengths and weaknesses to help the student obtain a minimum operational pass level (ICAO Level 4).
At the end of the course the pilot will be fully prepared to sit the language proficiency exam. This course is also designed to be a great step forward for pilots who wish to improve their current level and obtain a higher ICAO Language Proficiency Level.

- Module 10 – Reducing Approach and Landing Risks

English for Cabin Crew
Duration: 1 week
The ICARUS Wings English for Cabin Crew course is specifically designed for Cabin Crew to aid them in developing the English language in a way that they can deliver the highest standard of service to passengers in all situations.
Cabin Crew are often the point of call for every airline and, of all the crew members, they are the ones who represent the airline more as they have a greater presence on board with passengers.
This one week course is divided into 8 modules with a final test, at the end of which students will receive a valid certificate stating their English language level in both CEF (Common European Framework) and Oxford/Cambridge formats.
This course will involve several practical sessions including interaction with pilots in the simulator, especially during emergency situations such as dealing with a medical or technical/mechanical emergency.

- Module 3 – Boarding
- Module 4 – Cabin Services and Amenities
- Module 5 – Health and Medical Issues
- Module 6 – Safety and Emergencies
