Psychology at the University of Southampton:
Located in Hampshire on the south coast of England (just 75 miles south-west of London),The University of Southampton offers a range of psychology-related degrees including a single, highly-focused, BSc Psychology honours degree that is recognised by the British Psychological Society. Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour and mental functioning. This includes everything from close relationships to the visual system and memory, and from how a child learns to ageing. Addiction, pain management, autism, AD/HD, the effect of food additives, sexual health and the treatment of diabetes are just a few of the areas in which our research teams are seeking to aid the wider community.
Psychology at Southampton:
Psychology is part of the new Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. It received accolades from CHE for the impact of its research, quality of publications, the high number of academics editing influential journals, as well as the large number of international staff.
We were ranked 8th in the UK in the most recent (2008) Research Assessment Exercise, with a Grade Point Average of 2.7 weighted by the 39 academic staff contributing to it (Sources: HEFCE and Guardian Higher Education Supplement).
