The Philadelphia Academy of Make-Up & Special Effects:
Situated in Bala Cynwyd, just 15 minutes north of downtown Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Academy for Make-Up and Special Effects is the first school in the Philadelphia Region to teach its students how to apply make-up and create special effects. All classes are taught by highly skilled, trained and certified make-up artists. Supplies and materials are supplied for use in all classes. Topics include Fundamentals of Make Up-Theory, Make Up for Film & TV, Special Effects Make Up, and Bridal Boot Camp programs.

The Fundamentals of Make- Up - Theory 101
Duration: 1 day - from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
This one day intense hands-on course is designed to emphasize the techniques and necessity to detail that are required today in the realm of feature film, TV (HD), print photography, advertising, high fashion, beauty, and bridal industries as well as medical esthetics and special effects.
The Fundamentals of Make Up - Theory 102
Duration: 1 day - from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
This course is structured for taking the skills, techniques, excericses and principals studied in The Fundamentals of Make Up-Theroy 101, and apply them to hands-on makeup application. Please note; as a prerequsite one must take The Fundamentals of Make Up-Theory 101 before registering for this course.
Make-Up For Television and Film
Full day class - 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Class curriculum covers building a professional makeup kit for working on set, how to achive a flawless makeup application for HD, how to read and break down a script for creating a character, as well as the tools, skills and proper etiquette that are key to successfully work on set with actors, directors, producers and crew.
Special Effects Make-Up Class
Full day class (8 hours)
The Special Effect Class will introduce you to the basics of special effects make up for theatre and film. You will learn how to create a bruise, create a bullet hole, create scratches, scars, a dead body or corpse working with silicone, latex, special effect dirt and coal. This course covers proper etiquette for working on set and stage with actors, directors, produces, wardrobe and crew.
Bridal Boot Camp
Full day class - 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Learn how to create the different bridal looks that are highly requested by today's bride, as well as the importance of proper skin care and eyebrow contouring - all of which which are key to creating a flawless make up application.
