Consular services provided by the Embassy:

The Australian Embassy in Italy, Rome does not process visa or citizenship applications. The immigration office in Berlin processes visas for clients resident in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City.
Passport and consular services are available by appointment only.
Tourist visa requirements:
- A completed application form.
- Paid visa application charge.
- Certified copies of the biographical pages of the current passports or travel documents of all people included in the application (these are the pages with the holder's photo and personal details and the issue/expiry dates).
- One recent passport sized photograph (45 mm x 35 mm) of each person included in the application.
- A certified copy of evidence of the name change (if required).
- Certified copies of birth certificates for all persons included in the application. The certificates must show the names of both parents of each person.
- If anyone included in the application has served in the armed forces of any country: certified copies of their military service record or discharge papers.
- Evidence of sufficient funds, such as personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts, taxation records or credit card limit.
- If visiting relatives or friends, a letter of invitation from a relative or a friend in Australia. If a relative or a friend is paying for applicant’s visit, evidence that they have the necessary funds.
- Applicant’s itinerary for his/her stay in Australia.
- Other information to show that an applicant has an incentive and authority to return to his/her home country.
- Additional documentation for children younger than 18 years of age.
Italian citizens can also apply for an eVisitor visa. An eVisitor is an electronically stored authority for travel to Australia. eVisitor can be accessed by airlines, travel agents and Australian border agencies.
The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
