The Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) at the International University of Japan (IUJ) is dedicated to acquire a long-term vision of the rapidly changing world, apreciating diverse perspectives in global and local contexts, and ehancing their analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities in a wide range of contemporary international affairs. GSIR also encourages academic research beneficial to the development of its faculty's teaching and supervisory skills as well as students' capability in the fields of public management, international relations, international peace studies, international development and economics, utilizing the experiences of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. Educational Mission:

To train leaders who can make contributions to the practical resolution of global problems facing people living in various countries and regions in the world, as well as organizations including governments, companies, and NGOs, and to extend public and social benefits globally. To make this possible, IUJ offers a place to foster these leaders' professional knowledge and skills regarding politics, economics and management, and to help them achieve a deep understanding of and human respect for different cultures. English is the shared language, and used in all coursework and for all documentation at IUJ.

Programs:

The GSIR offers five two-year Master's Degree programs. Programs are taught in English:

Public Management and Policy Analysis Program (PMPP):
The PMPP stays a step ahead of changes in education and research in the field of public management and policy analysis and stresses the importance of scientific concepts. One of the first public management programs in Japan, PMPP links the study of best solutions to working professionals in various public sectors like state and local governments, international institutions, NGOs and public enterprises.

International Relations Programme (IRP):
IRP offers two MA degrees in International Relations and International Peace Studies.

The International Relations is designed to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of major trends in contemporary international politics, economics, and society. This has proved useful for those in the public sector, international organizations, or in the media. It also offers a valuable stepping-stone to those pursuing Ph.D.

The International Peace Studies is designed for individuals who wish to contribute to creating the conditions for peace, eliminating poverty and enhancing the human security . It enables individuals to acquire the basic skills and knowledge to design, implement and evaluate public policies for achieving peace and human security.

International Development Program (IDP):
IDP offers two MA degrees in International Development and Economics.

The International Development is designed for students who desire to improve the lives of people, especially in developing countries, through effective and sustainable development policies. It is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in the public sector, aid agencies, international organizations, as well as consulting firms, research institutes, etc.

The MA in Economics degree track prepares professionals for work in line with the goals of the International Monetary Fund including macro economics, monetary policy analysis and banking. This degree will repare professionals to be able to promote financial stability by encouraging monetary cooperation and international trade, which will foster sustainable economic growth, allow higher employment and help reduce poverty around the world.

Our Graduate School of International Management also offer MBA programs and E-business Management programs.

Activities:

Extracurricular activities include the opportunity to participate in the Graduate Student Organization (GSO), representing student interests in non-academic matters. Weekends may be spent by participating in local community events and activities. The splendid natural setting of the IUJ campus and the rich traditions of rural community offers many opportunities to explore the Japanese culture and the beautiful outdoors.

In addition, the IUJ sports facilities allow students to participate in a wide range of athletic activities including basketball, volleyball, soccer, training, aerobics, karate, table tennis and softball.
