The Embassy in offers a wide range of consular services to Turkish as well as Irish citizens. The list of the consular transactions consists of 5 main categories:

  • Birth: certification/registration of natural children
  • Marriage Registration
  • Passports/Travel documents
  • Notary Public
  • Citizenship

For birth certificate procedures, an application from either parent will be accepted. If one of the parents is a foreign national, the application must be completed by the Turkish parent. According to the relevant Turkish legislation, if a child is born abroad, notification must be made to the Embassy/Consulate General for the area in which the child was born, no later than 60 days after the birth.

If a Turkish passport is lost when traveling abroad, it should be reported to the nearest police station as soon as possible. They can then apply at the nearest Turkish embassy in the area for a temporary travel document which allows return back to Turkey.

Slovak citizens are exempted from the requirement of an entry visa to Turkey for their touristic visits, provided that the duration of their stay is not longer than 90 days within a period of 180 days. Visits for special purposes such as long term residence, education, scientific research, montage-maintenance-repair work and study are subject to a "special type of visa" issued by the Turkish diplomatic missions abroad, upon receiving the approval of relevant Turkish authorities.

If a foreigner has a valid visa, he/she does not need a residence permit up to 90 days. On the other hand, foreigners who shall reside, work or study in Turkey, should register themselves at the nearest local police department upon their arrival in Turkey, regardless of the validity of their visa.
