The Thai Embassy as well as the Consulate offers various types of visas such as Tourist, Transit, Business and Long Stay etc.

Australian passport holders do not require obtaining a visa in advance to enter Thailand for tourism purpose. They will be permitted to stay in Thailand not exceeding 30 days provided that proof of return or onward travel arrangements are presented with their passports at the airport immigration check-points.

According to the regulation issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy is authorized to legalize documents bearing the seal of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia only. Documents submitted in person are processed approximately within 2-3 days. Documents submitted by mail are processed approximately within 7 days, excluding mailing time.

To obtain a new Passport or an Identity Card, one should contact the Embassy to make an appointment Tel.: 02 6206 0119 between 9.30 - 12.30. The issuance of a new Passport takes about 5-6 weeks. The fee should be paid to the Embassy by cash or money order only. In case of an emergency one can apply for a temporary passport.
