As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic, financial and legal affairs, as well as science, education and culture.

The Swiss Embassy in Copenhagen is the competent representation for diplomatic relations with Denmark. However, for all consular affairs please contact the Swiss Embassy in Stockholm/Sweden.

Consular services provided:

  • Issuance of attestations and certificates;
  • Citizenship matters;
  • Emergency assistance for Swiss citizens in distress;
  • Legalisation of documents;
  • Issuance of passports and identity cards;
  • Political rights to vote;
  • Registration, deregistration and change of address;
  • Civil status affairs (marriage, birth, death, etc.);
  • Issuance of criminal records;
  • Social security and social insurance;
  • Registration of Swiss citizens abroad.

The loss or theft of a Swiss ID document abroad must be reported as soon as possible to the local police as well as to the relevant Swiss representation. A police report (declaration of loss) is also required to make it possible to prepare a new identity document, such as a temporary passport.

Third state members in possession of both a valid passport as well as a valid Danish residence permit or travel document are exempt from visa requirements for a maximum stay of 3 months within a 6 month period if they return to Denmark after the trip. However, if they work in Switzerland, the registration with the Cantonal Migration Office is required.
