The Singapore Embassy in Washington DC is committed to:

• Contributing to the formulation and implementation of Singapore's foreign policy to advance our national interests. They do so by providing the Government of Singapore with reporting and analysis of political and economic developments in the United States;
• Making friends and being a responsible and constructive member of the international community. This includes deepening US-Singapore bilateral ties, including in foreign policy and defence. They also work to promote and expand Singapore's trade and economic relationship with the United States, and to reach out to the public to promote Singapore's image; and
• Providing efficient and responsive consular assistance to Singaporeans in the United States.

All overseas Singaporeans are encouraged to register with the Embassy via the e-Register. This will enable us to contact you and render any necessary assistance during emergency or crisis situations.

US Passport Holders (regular, official and diplomatic) do not require a visa to enter Singapore for business or for social visit purposes. They must, however, meet the entry requirements as mentioned above.

For Singaporeans residing in the United States, there are two ways in which one can apply for a new Singapore Passport. Application for Passport On-line Electronic System (APPLES) Applying at the Singapore Embassy or the nearest Consulate in person or by mail.

NOTE:

• For new applications, passport issued will be valid for 5 years. For renewal applications, passports issued will be valid for 5 years plus remaining validity. If the remaining validity of your passport exceeds 9 months, the validity upon renewal will be pegged at 5 years 9 months. If your passport has already expired, the new validity will be 5 years upon renewal.
• If one is unable to produce the document required, please provide an explanation in the covering letter.
• Processing time is approximately three to four weeks from the date of receipt of the complete application. As the issuance of the passport is done in Singapore, please allow enough time for processing and possible delays in postal delivery.
• Applicants must present their old passport to the Embassy or the nearest Consulate for cancellation upon receiving the new passport.

If a Singapore Passport was lost or stolen while in the United States, one should report it to the local Police Department/Precinct immediately and obtain a police report. Thereafter please contact the Singapore Embassy or the nearest Consulate.

If you need to return to Singapore urgently and are not able to wait for a replacement passport, the Consular officer will be able to issue you a Document of Identity (DOI) once your identity has been verified. The DOI, in lieu of passport, will facilitate your return to Singapore only. To process your DOI, you must provide one passport-sized colour photograph and US$12.00 money order or cashier's cheque to the Embassy or nearest Consulate.

The process would usually take 2 to 3 days, especially during weekends/public holidays or after Singapore office hours, to verify your identity. Hence, you may have to re-schedule your departure date out of USA.

Fees can be paid be issuing a cashier's cheque or money order in US currency made payable to the "Singapore Embassy". Personal/corporate checks are not accepted. Payment by exact cash if applying can be done in person. Do not send cash through the mail.
