The Romanian Embassy in Oslo offers the following consular services:

• Issues temporary travel documents;
• Assists in renewing expired identity documents;
• Assists in obtaining civil status certifications (birth, marriage, death);
• Provides notary services (legalization of documents needed abroad);
• Assists in recovery/waiver of Romanian citizenship;
• Assists Romanian citizens in case of emergencies (assistance in obtaining services of a lawyer, translator, physician, funeral home, assistance in dealing with local authorities, informing relatives).

Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.

Holders of an EEA (EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Swiss passport do not require a visa. Nationals from EU-countries as well as Switzerland and Liechtenstein may stay for an unlimited time. Holders of Slovakian Passports (European Union) do not need a visa for Romania. There are no restrictions on the remaining validity of ones passport, providing the traveler leaves Italy before its expiry date.
