The Polish Embassy in Ottawa represents the Republic of Poland in Canada, and protects and implements the interests of Poland, its citizens and legal entities in Canada. It also helps to develop friendly relations and further co-operation between Poland and Canada.

Canadian citizens can travel to Poland for up to 90 days without a visa. As of October 1, 2010 Canadian citizens are exempt from the requirement of possession of work visa for the purpose of stay and employment no longer than 90 days within a six-month period. The exemption from visa requirement does not change the existing regulations concerning obtaining a work permit or Certificate of Employment issued by local authorities in Poland. Visas are usually issued within a period of 15 days. Sometimes the application may be refused or be delayed by unforeseen processing requirements. It is highly advisable not to make any irrevocable travel plans prior to obtaining ones visa.

Passports are printed in Poland, regardless of the home residence of the applicant. A Polish citizen who is applying for a Polish passport abroad should take into account the fact that the process will last longer due to the fact that the document has to be produced in Poland. It is recommended that an application for a new passport is submitted minimum 6 months before the expiry date of the current passport. A passport is valid for 10 years from the date it is issued. While waiting for a 10-year passport, you can apply for a temporary passport, issued for a period of 1 year. The applicant has to submit an application for the document and pick it up in person. It is not possible to use a third party, travel agencies or to send documents by mail.
