The Consular Office of the Malaysian Embassy provides all the standard consular services, such as assistance to Malaysian citizens with travel documents, legal issues, and various emergencies. The Consular Office also offers information and assistance with visas and other travel to Malaysia related issues to German citizens.

Malaysians in Germany may renew their passports through the Embassy. Applicants are advised to submit their applicants well ahead of time (e.g. 3 months before the passport expires or when the passport has 3 pages left) since the renewal also take a quite some times to be processed.

Malaysians residing, working or studying in Germany are highly encouraged to register themselves with the Embassy. Registering yourself with the Embassy is useful as it would enable us to get in touch with you during emergencies. Registration can be done by calling at the Embassy in person or by phone, fax or e-mail by providing the required information.

Malaysians are required to immediately report the loss of their passports to nearest local police station. The Embassy, in this case, may issue an Emergency Certificate to those Malaysians to facilitate their return to Malaysia.

German citizens do not require visa to enter Malaysia for any social visit not exceeding 90 days (e.g. tourism, visiting friends or relatives, attending meetings, seminars, conferences or business discussions, factory inspection, auditing company's account, signing agreements, surveying investment opportunities, setting up a company or factory, sitting for examinations, taking part in sports competition or on a goodwill mission for students).  German citizens, however, are required to obtain visa if they are to engage in employment or professional activities in Malaysia either paid or unpaid or to enter Malaysia for a purpose other than the ones stated above. Requirements for visa application are as follows:

  • A visa application (obtainable from the Embassy)
  • 1 recent coloured photo
  • Passport (with a validity of more than 6 months from proposed date of arrival in Malaysia)
  • An approval letter from Immigration Department of Malaysia or Multimedia Development Corporation approving the issuance of Employment, Professional or Dependent Pass to the applicant (if applicable)
  • Travel itinerary
  • Any other supporting document
  • A visa fee of RM 20.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
