Consular section of the Embassy provides these services:
- Assists Latvian citizens in emergency situations;
- Issues Latvian passports and ID cards;
- Registers new born children as Latvian citizens;
- Deals with Latvian citizenship matters;
- Legalizes documents;
- Registers Latvian citizens abroad;
- Provides notarial services;
- Issues certificates (marital status, criminal records, vehicle registration);
- Issues emergency documents to return to Latvia in case of lost or stolen travel documents;
- Issues visas.
In case a passport is lost, stolen or damaged, Latvian citizen must report it to the nearest police station and obtain a police notification which will be needed when applying for a new passport at the Latvian Embassy.
Citizens of the European Union member states, European Economic Area states (which includes Norway) and the Swiss Confederation do not require a visa in order to enter and reside in Latvia for a period of up to three months. In order to enter Latvia, he/she requires a valid travel document - passport or identification card (an ID card).
The Embassy is closed on weekends and public holidays.
