Please note that, for public safety reasons, all visitors to the Embassy are required to bring with them some form of photographic identification (such as a passport or a driving licence) and to have their belongings scanned by our security equipment.

The Administrative and Consular Section deals with all matters related to passports, visa and judicial affairs and also all administrative matters concerning the Embassy.

Visa applicants must visit the Embassy office in person along with their passport, visa application forms and the other documents required according to the purpose of stay.

One does not need to make an appointment prior to applying. Applications from non-residents in the UK (e.g. visitor visa holders) cannot be accepted. Visa applicants living in Scotland and North England (Cleveland, Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear) should contact the Consulate-General of Japan at Edinburgh.
