Greek Embassy provides these consular services:

• Assists Greek citizens in cases of arrests, preliminary hearings, detentions, incarcerations;
• Accepts necessary certificates and fingerprints and sends them to the Greek police which issues passports;
• In case of Greek citizen is hospitalized abroad, he/she can bring relevant paperwork (receipts, medical diagnoses) to the Greek Embassy to have them certified and sent to the competent insurance carrier in Greece;
• Assists Greek citizens willing to handle their tax affairs;
• Issues change of residency certificates;
• Deals with military conscription issues;
• Verifies the authenticity of foreign documents;
• Issues civil status certificates;
• Assists in transportation of bodily remains of a deceased Greek citizen abroad;
• Provides power of attorney services;
• Issues visas;
• Deals with inheritance affairs.

Visas are not required for citizens of Member-States of the Schengen Agreement, including Norway. Citizens of the majority of the countries that are not Member-States of the Schengen Agreement require a visa to enter Greece. During their stay in Greece, visitors with a visa must also have suitable insurance coverage for emergency medical or other needs.
