Embassy provides these consular services:
- Registers French citizens living abroad;
- Issues identity cards;
- Issues passports;
- Issues birth, marriage, death, PACS, divorce certificates;
- Allows French citizens abroad to participate in national elections;
- Deals with citizenship matters;
- Provides notarial services;
- Issues visas.
In case of lost or stolen passport abroad, Norwegian citizens must report it to the local police station and provide a police notification to the French Embassy when applying for an emergency passport.
All foreign nationals wanting to come to France must be able to submit statutory documentary evidence at the border for the reasons for their stay, their means of support and accommodation arrangements. Nationals of EU Member States, the EEA or Switzerland are not subject to the entry and stay visa requirement, whatever the duration of their stay.
Norwegian passport holders are exempt from visa requirements to enter France.
Since 1 January 2003, the visa fee is collected at the time of submitting the application and are not refundable, whatever the outcome of the application (visa refusal or reformulation of the visa).
Consular fees can be paid in cash or by bank transfer.
The Embassy is closed on weekends and public holidays.
