In case of lost or stolen travel documents abroad, French citizens must make a list of lost/stolen items and report it to the local police authorities. French mission may issue a temporary travel document to return to France.

Chinese people wishing to go to France must apply for a biometric visa, with exception for French Polynesia and Reunion Island.

Visa requirements:

  • Filled in application form.
  • Identity photographs.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Documents specifying the reason for a visit to the Schengen area.
  • Documents proving that an applicant has sufficient resources to pay for his/her stay.
  • Documents proving that an applicant intends to leave the Schengen area when the visa expires.
  • Airline ticket.

Nationals of China are exempted from visa requirement for La Réunion for a period not exceeding 15 days where the trip and stay are organized via an approved agency. The visa exemption for La Réunion for Chinese nationals going via an approved agency, for a period not exceeding 15 days, has been extended to Chinese nationals residing in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Bearers of passports of the Hong Kong special administrative region and the Macau special administrative region do not need visas to visit France for stays of up to 90 days.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
