The main tasks of the Embassy are to promote Finnish political, economical and commercial relations with Republic of Korea; follow positions taken by Republic of Korea on issues relating the EU and reporting on them to the relevant ministries in Finland; provide consular services; promote Finnish culture and knowledge about Finland in Republic of Korea.
The Consulate section of the Embassy of Finland in Seoul provides following consular services:
- passport for Finnish citizens
- assistance to Finnish citizens in distress
- population registration
- notary services and matters relating to military service and Finnish citizenship
- arranges pre-elections
- provides information about Finnish authorities
- gives general advise in legal and administrative issues
The Embassy of Finland provides the following services for non-Finnish citizens:
- Provides Schengen visas
- Submits residence permit applications to the Finnish Immigration Service as well as provides assistance in filling in them.
If Finnish citizen's passport is lost, stolen or damaged while abroad, he/she can get an emergency passport to return home or to continue his/her travel. An emergency passport is issued for the duration of the travel, but for no longer than 12 months. An emergency passport is issued by the mission.
Korean citizens are visa free to Schengen area and Finland - do not need a Schengen visa when planning to stay in Finland or Schengen area for 90 days or less within 6 months. Other citizens - should check the visa requirements for each nationality in the Schengen area and see what travel documents are accepted by Finland.
The Embassy does not accept credit cards - all payments must be paid in cash only. Only local currency, the Korean won, is accepted.
