Embassy's mission is to provide services to citizens of Finland, to non-Finnish citizens with permanent residence in Finland and in certain matters also to citizens of another country. Finns and non-Finns residing permantently in Finland are assisted in matters within the scope of the Consular Services Act.

Services provided by the Embassy:

  • Issuance of passports;
  • Notarial services;
  • Assistance with legal issues concerning family matters, citizenship, military service;
  • Organizing advance voting abroad;
  • Assistance to non-Finnish citizens with entry permit questions;
  • Issuance of visas;
  • Assistance to Finnish and non-Finnish citizens in case of emergencies;
  • Registration of a child born abroad/marriage abroad.

If Finnish passport is lost, stolen or damaged while abroad, Finnish citizens can get an emergency passport to return home or to continue their travel. An emergency passport is issued for the duration of the travel but no longer than 12 months. The loss or theft must be reported to the local police and the notification must be presented at the Embassy or Consulate when applying for a replacement passport.

Citizens of the Netherlands, alike other EU-citizens, do not need visa for travelling to Finland.
In connection of the Schengen-agreement the Embassy only admits visas in exceptional cases. A person who has been admitted residence visa in one of the Schengen-countries can freely travel within the Schengen area during a maximum of three months, if he/she complies with the general requirements for immigration.

The Embassy is closed on weekends and public holidays.
