The Consular Section of the Estonian Embassy in Dublin provides consular assistance and services to overseas Estonians, which include citizen registration, identification documents and passport related matters, emergency travel documents, legalization of documents, etc. The Consulate also issues visas to foreign nations who wish to visit Estonia and offers a range of other services and information on Estonia.

Estonian passport and ID-card applicants have to come to the Embassy in person to submit the application, as the Embassy collects fingerprints for the documents. In case of a child under 15 years old, an application for passport is submitted by his/her legal representative - a parent, guardian or authorized representative of guardianship authority, a child older than 15 years can apply for passport on his/her own.

In case of a person who wishes to change their name after marriage, then an original marriage certificate is required.

Changing the place of document collection will cost additional 50€

NOTE: It may take up to two months for the passport/ID-card to be issued.

The issue of residence permits to the third country nationals and persons with undetermined citizenship is regulated by the Aliens Act. Upon the issue or extension of the residence permit an alien is issued a residence card. Residence card contains its holder's personal data, data related to residence and work permits, photo and fingerprint images.

Every Estonian national has the obligation to update his/her data in Estonian Population Registry. If one lives in Ireland but has an Estonian address as a place of residence in Estonian Population Registry, it should be replaced with his/her Irish address.

An original document (e.g. birth certificate) should be sent to the Embassy in Dublin.
