Apart from providing Danish citizens with the consular assistance they would need the main task of the Danish Embassy is to convey and enhance the good relations between Denmark and Ireland on a political, cultural and commercial level, including promoting Danish exports in Ireland and Irish investments in Denmark.

The Honorary Consulates assist the Embassy in Dublin with providing consular services to Danish nationals or persons with permanent residence in Denmark. Consular services include issuing passports, legalising documents, providing emergency support to Danish nationals, public notary functions and liaising with local authorities in Denmark and Ireland. The Honorary Consulates also represent Denmark at official functions and provide information about Denmark to individuals and organisations based in Ireland.

The Royal Danish Embassy in Ireland can help one to get a new passport issued. Please note that applications must be submitted in person, regardless of age.

Passport service by prior appointment only. Please contact the Embassy to book an appointment. The Embassy is closed on Irish holidays. On the 1st of January 2012 Denmark introduced biometric passports. From that date, only the Embassy will be able to issue new passports. Please be aware that the Danish Consulates will have different opening hours than the Embassy.

The fee for a new passport is €127. Cash only.

Passports take approximately 3 weeks to process and may take longer during peak times.

An emergency passport is a handwritten document, which may be issued either at the Embassy or at one of the Danish consulates in Ireland.

One may apply for an emergency passport while the application for a new passport is still in process or if the validity of one’s current passport cannot be extended.

If the applicant has lost the Danish passport, he/she must bring with them a police report, when applying for an emergency passport/replacement passport. Furthermore a declaration must be filled in at the Embassy stating the circumstances under which the passport was lost/stolen. If you have obtained Danish nationality after you were born, you must bring your certificate of Danish nationality.
