Priorities of the Czech Embassy in Bucharest are to strengthen the bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Romania in all areas; to develop a political dialogue on regional issues, security policy and EU affairs; to develop economic and trade contacts, to look for investment opportunities; promote the Czech Republic; to support the activities of the local Czech community; to provide consular services to Czech nationals; to encourage cooperation in the field of culture and education.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Issuance of passports;
• Issuance of visas;
• Citizenship matters;
• Issuance of civil status documents;
• Elections abroad;
• Registration of Czech nationals abroad;
• Consular protection to Czech nationals abroad.

Citizens of Romania do not require visas to Czech Republic for stays of up to 90 days.

Some third countries are exempted from visa requirement. Visa exemptions apply only to short stays up to 90 days of non-profit nature. If the purpose of stay is employment, Schengen (short-term) visa for the purpose of employment is required.

All visa fees are payable in EUR or in RON in accordance with the exchange rate applicable for the relevant month. The fee is collected in cash when the application is submitted. 

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
