The Czech Embassy in Berlin is the formal communication link between the Czech and the German governments. The Ambassador heads the Embassy and is the official representative to Germany of the Czech Government. The Embassy fulfills the role of a Czech public authority when it comes to consular and migration-related matters, which include issuance of passports and different kinds of certificates, visas for students, residence and work permits as well as assistance to Czechs in emergency situations.
Visa sections of all the other Embassies and Consulates General of the Czech Republic in the Member States of the Schengen area were closed on December 31, 2010. The regionalisation will by no means influence other consular services of the Czech Embassies/Consulates General. The regionalisation will refer to applications of all kinds of residence permits in the Czech Republic (visa up to 90 days of stay, visa over 90 days of stay, long term residency permit and permanent residency permit).
Czech citizens are obliged to register births, marriages and deaths that occurred outside the Czech Republic with the Special Register Office in Brno, Czech Republic. This can be done via our Consular Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Berlin, during an appointment. The registration of the above-mentioned events must be done as soon as possible after they occur.
To apply for passport applicants with residence in Ireland will come in person to the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic with all the required documents. After the passport is prepared and sent to the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Germany, the applicant will be called to come in person to collect the passport. The applicant may request the consular officer to check the functioning of the electronic devise (chip) in the passport before he or she signs for the hand-over. The applicant will also be instructed on how to handle the new passport.
