Chinese Embassy ensures all co-nationals protection against the violation of their fundamental rights and the limitation or privation of their personal freedom. They also ensure emergency assistance; help in locating family members, inheritance procedures initiated abroad and for the repatriation of mortal remains. The consular services include:

To have a document which was executed in the Republic of Latvia be accepted in the People's Republic of China, the document shall first be notarized by a Latvian Notary Public, then authenticated by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia (Elizabetes 57,Ground Floor, Tel: 67016364, Fax: 67828274, Opening hours: Monday & Thursday & Friday 9.00-12.00, Tuesday 13.00 - 16.00), and finally be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy. If the document was issued by an office of Latvian government or a public institution, please consult with the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia to see if it can be directly sent to the Department for authentication before it undergoes authentication by the Chinese Embassy.

The legalization fee is 18 Euros for each civil-case document; 35 Euros for each commercial-case or property-case document. Normal service takes 5 working days. Express service takes 2-4 working days. Extra express fee is 30 Euros extra per document; express fee is 20 Euros extra per document. Please pay in cash.

According to the instruction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, starting from January 1, 2009, visa fee for Latvian citizen will be adjusted on reciprocal basis.

NOTE:

• Extra express fee for individual visa (to collect a visa on the second opening day of the Consular Office):  30 Euros
• Express fee for individual visa (to collect a visa on the third opening day of the Consular Office): 20 Euros Express fee for group visa: 10 Euros
• All payments need to be made only by Euros cash.

Processing Time: The regular visa processing time is 5 working days. Express service takes 2-4 working days. In case of a withdrawal of visa application, there will be no refund for either visa fee or express fee. To collect a visa, please bring the pick-up form issued by the Chinese consular officer and come according to the collection time specified on it.
