The Embassy provides consular services to Canadian citizens residing or travelling in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova. The Embassy of Canada in Bucharest is accredited to Romania, Bulgaria and Republic of Moldova.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Issuance of passports;
• Issuance of visas;
• Registration of Canadians abroad;
• Assistance to Canadians abroad in cases of emergency;
• Citizenship matters.

If Canadian passport is lost or stolen abroad, it should be reported to the nearest Government of Canada office abroad. Once a passport has been reported lost or stolen, it is no longer valid and cannot be used for travel. Before the passport can be replaced, Canadian authorities will conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the loss or theft. This may lead to delays in processing the replacement passport.

Citizens of Romania are required to have a visa to visit or transit Canada.

Requirements for a visit visa:

• Visa application;
• Fee payment in an acceptable format;
• Valid passports;
• Photocopy of current immigration document, if applicable;
• Proof of financial support;
• Photocopy of valid return ticket and/or travel itinerary, if applicable;
• If minor travelling alone or with one parent: custody documents or a letter of authorization from the other non accompanying parent or a letter of authorization signed by both parents or legal guardians;
• Any additional documents required by the responsible visa office.

Payments for consular services are accepted only by Visa or MasterCard. The fees will be charged in Canadian dollars.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
