The Embassy provides these consular services:
  • Issues biometric passports, regular passports, duplicate passports, passports for minors;
  • Issues visas;
  • Assists in transferring bodily remains of the deceased to Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Legalizes copies of documents issued by the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Assists citizens in case of arrest or detention;
  • Assists citizens in finding appropriate health care facilities in case of illness;
  • Notifies the family in case of death, assists in legal formalities;
  • Assists citizens and provides useful information in case of other problems.
Duplicate passports are issued for Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens who lost their passports or had them stolen. A police certificate of registration of lost or stolen passport and an identification document of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ID card, driving license, a copy of the stolen passport) will be needed when applying for a duplicate passport. Additionally, the laissez-passer may be issued in case of loss/theft of a passport. This travel document is a one direction document allowing citizens only to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina. This document is issued for a period of time needed to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina but no longer than 20 days.

Nationals of the following states may enter into Bosnia and Herzegovina with a passport or a valid identity card proving identity and citizenship of: Member State of the European Union; State signatory to the Schengen Agreement; Andorra, Montenegro, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Serbia, the Holy See and Swiss Confederation. Citizens of the Kingdom of the Netherlands are exempted from the visa requirement when entering, exiting or travelling through Bosnia and Herzegovina up to 90 days.
