When applying for a new Austrian passport, applicants should be noted that passports are produced in Austria, therefore their processing time is 6 to 8 weeks.

Since Austria is a member of the European Union and the Schengen area, Norwegian nationals may enter Austria with their valid passports. The stay must not exceed three months. Foreign nationals with permanent residence in Norway usually don't need a visa to enter Austria.

Consular fees must be paid in cash and in Norwegian Krones. Transfers to the Embassy's bank account are accepted in exceptional cases and only by prior arrangement with the Consular Section of the Embassy.

The Embassy cannot be contacted through telephone on Austrian holidays.
