Austrian Embassy in the Hague provides the following consular services:
  • Issuance of passports, identity cards;
  • Issuance of proof of Austrian citizenship certificates, civil status certificates., criminal record certificates;
  • Authentication of signatures and documents;
  • Assistance to Austrian citizens in case of emergencies;
  • Issuance of emergency passports;
  • Financial aid for Austrian citizens in case of emergencies while abroad;
  • Assistance in dealing with formalities in case of death of an Austrian citizen;
  • Issues visas.
In case Austrian passport is lost or stolen while traveling abroad, it should be immediately reported to the nearest police station and a police notification obtained. This police notification along with photo ID will be needed in order to return back to Austria without a valid travel document. In addition, the embassy issues a short validity emergency passport to return to Austria. The processing time of this emergency passport is at least one day.

The uniform visa is a short stay visa (e.g. tourism, private visits or short business) for all Schengen countries (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary). Third country nationals who want to travel to the Schengen countries for tourism, private visits or business can apply for short stay visas (one up to ninety days), which are valid for all Schengen countries. In very special cases visas with a longer validity (for stays up to 90 days every six months) can be issued. The uniform visa does not allow paid activities or stays exceeding 3 months in Austria. Therefore foreign nationals should apply for Long stay visa up to 6 months (NOT extendable or renewable) or a residence permit. Applications for visas should be presented at least three weeks before the intended travel. The consular fees have to be paid when lodging the application; they are not reimbursed in case of refusal.

The Embassy is closed on weekends and Austrian public holidays.
