Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Assist all Australian citizens and Canadian citizens in locations specified in the Australia-Canada Consular Sharing Agreement;
  • Issue passports and travel documents;
  • Provide details of local doctors and hospitals in a medical emergency;
  • In case of a serious assault, arrest or other crime, provide appropriate help, including details of local lawyers and details of interpreters;
  • Provide advice and support in a wide range of other cases including the death of relatives overseas, missing persons and kidnappings;
  • Make special arrangements in cases of international terrorism, civil disturbances and natural disasters;
  • Contact friends or family on a person's behalf;
  • Enable Australians to vote in Australian federal and some state elections while overseas;
  • Provide some notarial services, including witnessing and authenticating documents and administering oaths and affirmations;
  • Provide small emergency loans in exceptional situations.

In order to provide a more efficient service, as of 1 July 2011 the Passport and Consular Section of the Australian Embassy Manila has implemented an appointment system for notarial acts and lodgement of passport applications.

All travelers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling to Australia. In Australia, all passport holders can apply online for a Visitor visa extension.

Tourist visa processing time is 10 working days but in peak tourist application periods (November and June) the processing time may be longer.

Effective Monday 16 June 2014 Visa applications, except for Refugee and Humanitarian Entry, should be lodged at the nearest Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in the Philippines, operated by VFS Global.

The Embassy is closed on weekends and public holidays.
