Applying for a passport for the first time at the Consulate is subject to prior consular registration. The applicant must be present at the consulate when submitting the application and collecting the passport. As the biometric passport is issued in Algiers, the processing time may take more than 6 weeks. Applications for the renewal of passport can be made 6 months before its expiry date.

If a passport is lost, damaged or stolen, one must report it immediately at the local police station and to the Algerian Consulate, where the applicant can apply for a new passport. The replacement passport is issued after cancellation of the lost, damaged or stolen one. This process can take several months.

Accommodation Certificate is issued to Algerian Nationals registered at the Consulate wishing to invite a member of their family or a friend for a short stay in the UK. This document is intended to support a visa application within the British Embassy in Algeria.

The birth registration at the Consulate must be done as soon as the one gets the birth certificate from the register office. These applications will be processed first. If an application for registering a child is made the same year of his/her birth, it will be processed in priority. If the child is born in another country than the UK or Ireland, the registration must be made at the Algerian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the child is born.

The Consulate of Algeria in London will process visa applications made by applicants residing in the UK and the Republic of Ireland only. Others foreign citizens must provide proof of residence in the UK or Ireland. Regardless their age, kids traveling with parents need a visa. Application must be made should they use their own passport to travel. In case kids are on the parent's passport, only two photographs are required in addition to the parent's application.

The visa fees are paid only by cash or postal order when lodged at the consulate and only by postal order made payable to "The Algerian Consulate" when sent by mail. No cheques, no debit or credit cards are accepted by the Embassy.

The processing time may vary according to the nationality of the applicant and the visa type. However, visas submitted in person are generally issued within 10 working days. For the applications sent by mail, the processing time is at least 15 working days;
