Welcome to the Dunham Institute. We´re a small, friendly and intimate language school based in the idyllic location of Chiapa de Corzo, the oldest town in the rural state of Chiapas in Mexico. We provide affordable opportunities to the families of the local community to learn English from native speakers, creating a comfortable, enjoyable learning environment with a small dedicated team. We also use these classes to provide TEFL training and hands-on authentic teaching experience for those wishing to begin a career teaching abroad.
TEFL Certificate
Benefits of our program include:
* Small class sizes of a maximum of 6 people, giving you customised, personal attention
* Over 60 hours observing novice and experienced teachers
* Up to 12 hours of hands on teaching practice for adults, adolescents and primary aged children; all the experience that employers are looking for
* One to one lesson feedback with your qualified teacher trainer
* Exposure to authentic language learning environments and classroom scenarios from day one and teaching experience within the first week
* High quality certification that has allowed all our previous graduates to find work
Included in the course fee in addition to tuition:
* Homestay with a local family included in the cost of the course, within walking distance of the Institute, providing a private room and bathroom. Please note that meals are not included.
* Free collection from the airport and bus station on arrival
* All support 
materials (handbooks, handouts etc.)
This course lasts 4 weeks.

* You will gain a minimum of 2 hours per day teaching experience and classroom contact time to quote on your resume in addition to the hours from your teaching certificate
* You will be providing a service to the community and giving opportunity for native language access to local children
* If you are unsure about the nature of a career in teaching, you will be able to try it out over a short period of time before committing to a standard teaching contract of a year or more
Please note:
* This course requires an 8 week commitment: the first 4 weeks for the TEFL course and a subsequent 4 weeks of volunteer teaching
* As for the standard TEFL course , homestay with a local family is included
* All teaching locations are with in walking distance of your homestay and the Dunham Institute.

Teachers College Mexico City is an autonomous, self-governing institution, founded in 1990, and was the first institution in Mexico to implement 100% distance learning academic programs in English. Our Teachers Academic Program has been accepted by the SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública) since 1990.
The SEP requires that all individuals who wish to teach English as a Second Language in both private and public schools in Mexico have earned their teaching credentials through a 200-hour Teachers Certificate.
