- Learn with passion and perseverance

- Work hard, take risks, become involved

Philosophy:

Founded in 1909, Kingswood Oxford was one of the nation's first independent day schools. For Hartford community leaders, such a school was an important alternative. An independent day school provided talented students with special intellectual, athletic and cultural advantages, without attending boarding school and weakening ties to family, friends and home.

In a world that changes at lightning speed, 21st-century literacy is a strong liberal arts curriculum, deepened and extended by an intensified focus on mathematics, science and technology, globalization, adaptability and ethical world citizenry.

No matter how strong our program is, we refuse to be complacent and continue to explore areas of growth as we prepare students today for what we know will be a profoundly different tomorrow.

Middle School Program:

-150 students in Grades 6-8

Kingswood Oxford’s Middle School is an academically rigorous educational environment where every aspect of the program has been intentionally designed for students ages 10 to 14. The environment here is unlike any other in that adolescents are given the utmost respect along with great responsibility, which, when combined with an extensive support system, empowers them to achieve beyond expectation. The ownership of their own experience, combined with study skills, academic rigor, rich arts and athletic programs and the intrinsic joy of learning, creates a solid foundation that will benefit them for a lifetime.

Upper School Program:

- College Preparatory Curriculum with English, math, history, science, creative arts, modern languages including Chinese, French and Spanish, classic languages such as Greek or Latin
