Adult Swimming Programs:

Mini Group Introductory Class:
Photo of Swim Lessons in the Seattle Metro Area, WAThe mini class is an introductory class to our conquering fear of (deep) water. This 2.5-hour class allows students to get the information they need to prevent panic, remain in control and to know the process of how to learn to swim. For some students this is the missing information that they need to continue on their own.

For other students this class allows them to see the real possibility of becoming a swimmer and that this method is different and highly effective than what they have done in the past.

Private Swim Lessons:
Private lessons are 1:1 lessons with an instructor trained in working with adults. Lessons are typically 1.5 hours long with part of the time talking and part of the time in the water. Private lessons can be used for beginning swimming to advanced stroke development. The methods of instruction are the same as in the group classes. If you are a beginning student we recomend that you plan on 24-hours of instruction to complete the beginning class.

Beginning Group Class:

The beginning class is a series of classes. Each class meeting is 3 hours long with 1 hour on land and 2 hours at the pool. During the land portion of the class there is discussion of swimming past, goals, and home fun readings. The water portion of the class students start at their beginning, skip no steps, have fun, and delight in their own and others accomplishments. The water portion of the class allow student to go slow, ask all their questions, rest, and practice a wide variety of activities.

Next Step Group Class:
The next step class is a series of classes that continues the information learned in the beginning class to the next step. Students must have completed a beginning class to join a next step class. Each class meeting is 2.5 hours. Students have the opportunity to continue becoming free in deep water, have the time and supportive place to practice and ask more questions as learning expands.

Open Swims:
These are times we rent the pool just for our students. The only participants are adults that have taken at least a beginning class. The time is used to practice what you learned in class in a safe comfortable place that you already know.

Stroke Group Classes:
Stroke classes are for students that are totally free in deep water. Students must know how to get their safety from themselves not the bottom, side or shore. Once this is accomplished then students have enough energy to learn the competitive formal strokes of front crawl, back crawl, breastroke and butterfly.

Kids Classes:

Orca’s kids program is based around consistent scheduling (no changing times and teachers as with session based programs), teaching key aquatic principals that are the basis for all swimming, child centered, and small groups. We want all children to be safe in and around the water. Therefore we not only want the children to have a great time in their lesson, but to also understand how their bodies work with the water in a gentle easy manor. This is accomplished by having a consistent instructor, class time and classmates.

Students are enrolled in a time that works for their family and then you get to keep that time slot for as long as you remain with Orca. This allows the student to have a trusting consistent relationship with their instructor, and for families to not have to juggle their schedule every couple of months.
