What Makes Spring Ridge Academy Different?

Photo of Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls in Arizona- Our comprehensive approach to the therapeutic, academic, social and physical needs of each student and family.

- Through the utilization of a thorough, multifaceted therapeutic program, a fully accredited and challenging college preparatory education and a supportive peer culture we have created a community that encourages connection and growth.

- Each of these three areas, therapy, education and community, are outstanding in their own right. Together, with the extraordinary students, families and employees of SRA what is created is a transformative experience that gives hope and an opportunity to heal.

- As an independently owned and operated program we have the freedom to work with each family from an individual perspective and to tailor treatment appropriately.

Therapeutic Environment:
Another key element in the Spring Ridge Aacdemy experience is the all girl environment. Many of our students have struggled in peer relationships. Often they have felt judged or ostricized by their peer group, have clung to or become dependent on friends and boyfriends and have made choices based on the approval of negative peers.

At SRA we are able to change that perspective and offer our young women new experiences and healthy relationships. An all girl environment provides the opportunity for our students to explore fears, assumptions, trauma and conflict in a safe and supportive environment.

In addition to the therapeutic work that necessitates a single sex setting our students learn to enjoy the freedom of expressing themselves in the classroom, groups, meetings, extra curricular activities and in relationships with both peers and adults.

Student Profile:

Spring Ridge Academy students are bright, creative and unique individuals who are struggling to manage their lives. Often these young women are involved in a variety of risky and/or addictive behaviors and are in danger of sabotaging their relationships and academic careers. The SRA student is capable and talented but lacks the self-esteem and self-discipline necessary to succeed.

Students may exhibit one or more of the following:
- ADD / ADHD
- Family Conflict
- Academic Underachievement
- Drug / Alcohol Abuse
- Attachment/ Adoption Issues
- Learning / Social Difficulties
- Defiance
- Entitlement
- Isolation

- Anxiety
- Depression
- Negative Peer Group
- Computer / Technology Abuse

Our Mission :

Spring Ridge Academy is committed to creating success and excellence for young women in today’s world. SRA provides and preserves an intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually nurturing environment.

Young women are challenged with the opportunity to confront self-limiting beliefs, attitudes and behaviors and establish new and empowering beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that generate the development of academic mastery, emotional balance, leadership abilities and life skills.

Therapeutic Approach:
The Therapeutic approach at Spring Ridge Academy utilizes a combination of family systems and developmental models to create a comprehensive scope of treatment. Within this model we identify and address six key, interlinked concepts affecting the quality of life for adolescents and their families:

- Identity
- Attachment
- Parenting style/method
- Communication
- Executive functioning
- Social functioning

Campus Life:

Image of Therapeutic Boarding School for Girls in ArizonaFrom the day your daughter arrives at SRA she will be encouraged to build honest and trusting relationships with peers, family members and most importantly, with herself. The environment and peer culture at SRA promotes emotional safety through honest, direct and caring communication.

Our campus was designed to provide a beautiful and functional home and school environment. Our facilities grant us the ability to carry out the typical daily events of a traditional boarding school while our program ensures these activities remain productive and useful.

Our goal is to offer our young women the opportunity to be productive and competent students and community members. This competence gives our students the confidence to pursue a wide range of interests, opening new doors to their future and improving their success upon their transition home.

Boarding:
Students reside in two dormitories connected by a common living room. Spacious dorm rooms provide ample living space for four students to live and work together.

Roommates are assigned to create a well balanced group with a supportive combination of strengths and experience. Students on higher phases offer leadership and support to new students.
