Lacunza International House, San Sebastian:
Located in beautiful San Sebastian on the Northern Coast of Spain, Lacunza IH San Sebastian offers a wide range of Spanish courses and camps for all ages and levels. We are members of the world wide organisation International House which has been dedicated improving the teaching of languages since 1953. We offer intensive Spanish, business Spanish, DELE exam preparation, training for Spanish teachers and more. Small study groups of less than 12 students are taught by native speakers to ensure a lesson plan that caters to the individual.

We offer:

- Intensive Spanish:
The general courses have been specifically designed to develop your ability to effectively communicate in Spanish. These intensive courses are adapted to your prior Spanish level and are based on everyday contexts and experiences in order to develop your knowledge from the perspective of real-life encounters. All of our courses are focused on the practical use of the language and immersing yourself in the Spanish way of thinking.

To optimize your time, we maintain small study groups with a maximum of 12 students per teacher. The core course, Intensive 20, consists of two 90 minute group classes taught 5 times per week for a total of 15 hours per week. While this is an excellent way to learn Spanish, if you wish to accelerate your learning, we have individual sessions available to complement your group lessons. The individual lessons are an excellent way to focus on specific topics and get one-on-one lessons catered to your learning needs. This personalised lesson structure allows students of all disciplines and backgrounds to advance rapidly and efficiently. In no time you'll be understanding and communicating with your new Spanish neighbours!

- DELE Preparation:
If you require a certificate that demonstrates your level of Spanish, this is the course for you. Obtaining this diploma will eliminate any doubt employers might have about your level of Spanish. The D.E.L.E. (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is recognized worldwide. 

DELE is a 4 week course designed to prepare you for one of the 3 levels of the Instituto Cervantes [Inicial (B1: intermediate I), Medio (B2 Intermediate II), Superior (Proficiency)]. We also accept students who require shorter stays depending on their previous knowledge of the language.

This course is 20 sessions per week in small groups with an additional 10 sessions per week of preparation specifically for the DELE exam.

- Business Spanish:

Executive Spanish Crash Course:
Our Executive Spanish crash course is Spanish elevated to the maximum potential. We know how valuable your time is, and if you are looking for astounding results in a short amount of time, then without a doubt this is the course for you. This course is suited to the business professional who desires to learn Spanish in the shortest amount of time possible.

The course is composed of 40 one-to-one lessons per week, accompanied by a meal each day with your professor (lunch or dinner). The price includes the meals and all other necessary materials.

Business Spanish:
Whether you're looking to pass the Camara de Comercio de Madrid or you just want to prepare yourself to speak Spanish in a business environment, Business Spanish is the course for you. With a base of either the Intensive 20 + 5 or 20 + 10 course program, we will prepare you to pass the official exam of the Camara de Comercio de Madrid (Chamber of Commerce of Madrid).

We even can administer the exam right here in our school to avoid any unnecessary hassles. You will enjoy 20 lessons per week of general Spanish plus 5 or 10 classes of "one-to-one" format focused on Business Spanish, depending on your needs and abilities

Spanish Work Experience:
The work experience programme is designed to prepare you for working in the Spanish business world. Depending on your previous knowledge of the language, you may choose from either 4, 8 or 13 weeks of Spanish courses (Intensive 20) which will provide you with a strong language base and the knowledge you need to confidently complete your choice of either a 13 week or 26 week internship in a Spanish company.

You will have 4 lessons a day to improve your general Spanish skills and 2 special modules which will focus on vocabulary for the business world and elaborating your Curriculum Vitae in Spanish and perfecting the job interview in Spanish. The four week course option does not contain these two specialised modules.

Towards the end of the Spanish courses, you will have at least 3 job interviews (2 job interviews with the 4 week course) with local companies to determine where you will do the internship. The interviews will be arranged by the school with companies that relate as much as possible to your past experience.

- Spanish Teacher Training:
Our Spanish Teacher Training course will help you discover and develop the skills needed to become a confident teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language. It consists of 120 hours focusing on methodology, language analysis and teaching practice with volunteer students.

Having completed the course, you will receive the International House Teaching Certificate together with a personal report on your performance. Successful completion of the personal portfolio will allow you to receive recognition from the Universidad de Barcelona and the Universidad Pablo Olavide de Sevilla, which will then give you the option to pursue a Masters in teaching Spanish as a foreign language at either institution.

Class taught across 4 weeks, which includes:
- 65 hours of theory based on the study of methodologies, teaching techniques and class activities along with linguistic analysis.
- 55 hours of practice sessions. (Practice teaching with foreign students while being observed by the tutor, performance analysis & preparation of classes with guidance from the tutor)
