Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence:
Alchimia is a private contemporary jewellery school located in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. We provide a wide range of academic, short-term intensive jewellery courses - including our innovative summer workshops and one-on-one courses in contemporary jewellery.
Jewellery Design Short Courses / Workshops:
Short 3-day workshops to a maximum of 1 week's study. • The Electric philosopher’s stone – Electroforming and plating techniques (2 days)
• Blinking lights: a glimpse into antique Japanese inlay technique, Nunome Zogane (3 days)
• White&Gold Summer workshop (5 day course)
• Water, sand and stone casting (3 days)
• Exploring pigments and gold leaf on metal (3 days).
Water & Sand Casting Course:
• Duration: 3 days, taught by Francesco Coda
The focus of this course is the realization and the execution of micro fusion techniques. The program includes construction of the necessary equipment in order to realize fusions with either soil or water.
Metallic Weaving & Wire Textile Jewellery:
• Duration: 3 days, taught by Giovanna CanuParticipants learn the basic techniques used in wire textile jewellery: Weaving, crochet, hairpin lace, and spool knitting. At the end of the course, each participant produces a piece of jewellery using one of the above-mentioned techniques.
Entropy + Entities:
• Duration: 4 days, taught by Iris Bodemer
Following basic philosophical concepts, we will explore the diversity of artistic capabilities for jewelry, perceiving various facets of decisions.
Chasing & Repousse:
• Duration: 5 days, taught by Fabrizio Acquafresca
Students will learn chasing and repoussé in the Italian style. Through the proper use of various specialized tools, students study and implement the classical Italian approach to transforming sheet metal into works of art.
Short-term Intensive Courses:
We also offer short-term intensive jewellery courses that last from 2 weeks to 6 months and are available throughout the year, beginning on Mondays.
Each student is guided individually to ensure that lessons meet their specific need.
The weekly course schedule comprises 30 hours of practical jewellery making. Critic sessions are scheduled when the individual program requires them, Toolbox and non-precious materials are included in the course fee, a personal bench for all the duration of the program.
